Jaipur/Ajmer: In preparation for emergency situations amid heightened tensions, the local self govt department of Rajasthan has diverted 75 firefighting vehicles to six border districts and cancelled all leaves of its officers and staff.
Firefighting vehicles have been sent to Jaisalmer (20), Bikaner (15), Sriganganagar (15), Barmer (15), Phalodi (5), and Balotra (5). LSG department's director, Inderjeet Singh, ordered that once the vehicles are received by regional deputy directors, they should be deployed at district headquarters and used in coordination with the district collector and municipal commissioner.
As part of the move, Beawar Nagar Parishad has dispatched two fire tenders and six firefighters to Sriganganagar, while 10 firemen have been sent to Jaisalmer. Beawar collector Mahendra Khadgawat confirmed that the personnel have been instructed to report to their respective municipal bodies.
Firefighting vehicles have also been diverted from several other municipal bodies including those in Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Navalgarh, Churu, Ratangarh, Dausa, Bhilwara, Kishangarh, Pushkar, Ajmer, Nagaur, Makrana, Merta City, Pali, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Rajsamand, Sumerpur, and Bali.
An official order issued Thursday directed all officers and employees who are currently on leave to return to duty immediately. Further, no leave shall be sanctioned without prior approval from the directorate or the respective district collector.
The department's swift action aims to ensure the availability of essential fire safety infrastructure in Rajasthan's vulnerable western belt, bolstering preparedness in case of any contingency.
