Madurai: Madras high court on Wednesday dismissed a plea seeking a direction to the authorities to construct an underpass in the ring road, enabling the expansion of the runway of Madurai airport.
The court was hearing a public interest litigation filed by S Sridhar, secretary of the Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Madurai.
During the course of the hearing, the state submitted that the govt considered the construction of the underpass and rejected the proposal. Instead, the govt decided to proceed with land acquisition proceedings, and the process was completed.
Taking into account the submission, a division bench of justice J Nisha Banu and justice S Srimathy dismissed the petition.
