The National Council of Educational Research and Training ( NCERT ) has announced admissions for its Diploma Course in Guidance and Counselling (DCGC) for the 2026 academic session. Designed to strengthen the counselling capacity in schools, this programme targets teachers, teacher educators, school administrators, and untrained guidance personnel across India.

The course follows a hybrid learning model, combining six months of distance learning, a three-month face-to-face contact programme, and a three-month internship in the candidate’s hometown or workplace. With a focus on practical skill development, psychology, and career guidance, the diploma aims to equip educators to support students’ academic, emotional, and career needs effectively.
Course structure explainedThe DCGC programme spans 12 months and combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills:

• Distance Learning (Jan–Jun 2026): Online modules covering counselling principles, child psychology, ethical practices, and guidance techniques for diverse student needs.
  
  
• Contact Programme (Jul–Sep 2026): Face-to-face sessions at NCERT centres featuring interactive workshops, role-playing exercises, and hands-on training.
  
• Internship (Oct–Dec 2026): Supervised practical experience in local schools or workplaces to apply learned counselling techniques and guidance strategies.

Multiple study centres across India The course will be offered at NCERT Delhi and regional institutes in Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru, and Shillong, with maximum intake of 50 candidates per centre, ensuring personalised attention and effective training.
