Parents step into classrooms as co-creators of learning

Send Push
Birla Vidya Niketan in New Delhi has taken parental involvement in schools a step further, turning families into active partners in the teaching-learning process in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

From commemorations of Hiroshima Day, Quit India anniversary, and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s birth anniversary to events like World Health Day, Panchayati Raj Day and Bastille Day, school assemblies now feature active contributions from parents alongside students, adding intergenerational perspectives to history and culture.

The initiative extends beyond assemblies. Parents have been part of Skill Bazaars, ATL Lab sessions, Reading Month activities and cultural excursions. An event titled Talent Across Generations saw students, parents and grandparents share the stage in music and dance performances.

Parents have also supported health and safety initiatives on campus — from menstrual health and cervical cancer awareness drives to mental wellness and nutrition literacy programmes. Legal professionals within the parent community have conducted sessions to promote civic responsibility and legal awareness among students.

Principal Minakshi Kushwaha said, “When parents join the classroom journey, learning becomes personal, values grow deeper, and confidence soars.”
