Aayush Sharma fired the in-house cook over his high salary, said, "I had a heart attack after I heard the number. I realised that ordering food from downstairs is cheaper than paying him his monthly fees"
Arpita Khan, Salman Khan’s sister, and her husband, Aayush Sharma, reside in a vast home in Mumbai. In a recent vlog on Farah Khan’s YouTube channel, Aayush humorously referred to their residence as “Mumbai’s Dubai.” They decided to let go of their in-house chef after realizing it was more economical to order meals from the restaurant within their building rather than pay a full-time salary. Arpita also mentioned that they receive a daily homemade meal from Salma Khan’s kitchen. Since Aayush has a strong preference for Indian cuisine, they even brought along a personal chef on their recent vacation to Finland, where they stayed in a villa.
Farah Khan Amazed by Their Massive Home
In the vlog, Farah and her chef Dilip were amazed by the sheer size of Arpita and Aayush’s massive home. Farah quickly pointed out that the lobby was so spacious, their children could easily play cricket and football there. While admiring the grandeur of the house, Aayush jokingly remarked, “She builds huge houses wherever she goes, yet she only uses three spots in the entire place.”
Decision to Fire the Chef
Farah was curious about who cooked in their lavish kitchen, outfitted with four air conditioners and three refrigerators. Aayush revealed that he ended up letting go of their chef after discovering the salary he was earning. He said, “I asked my cook how much he gets paid, and I got a heart attack after I heard the number. I realised that ordering food from downstairs is cheaper than paying him his monthly salary.” He also mentioned that their building has a restaurant, making it more suitable and cost-effective to order meals.
Daily Dabbas from Salma Khan’s Kitchen
Arpita further shared that they receive daily lunch boxes, or "dabbas," prepared by Salman Khan's mother, Salma Khan. Arpita also sends food to her brothers, Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan. They mentioned that Salma ensures food is sent to the sets whenever Arpita’s kids are filming, and she does the same for Aayush. Regarding a set menu, Arpita clarified that they generally receive whatever is cooked, but Aayush can make specific requests if he has a particular craving.
Traveling Abroad with a Personal Chef
Aayush mentioned that in the early days of their relationship, he and Arpita had different tastes when it came to food. Nowadays, whenever they go abroad, they make sure to bring along a personal chef. “We brought a chef with us to Finland because we just can’t manage without one,” they revealed. When Farah jokingly asked how the chef managed to cook in an igloo, Arpita calmly replied, “Oh, we were actually staying in a villa.”
