As per Mint, long before his screen debut, Mukul Dev’s initial foray into the spotlight came in a unique way. As a schoolboy in Class 8, he performed a lively impersonation of pop legend Michael Jackson, complete with the moonwalk, for a televised dance show on Doordarshan. This early performance not only showcased his talent and confidence but also earned him his very first pay cheque. It’s a lesser-known anecdote from his early life.


Demise confirmed by brother Rahul Dev

The news of Mukul Dev’s passing was confirmed by his brother, actor Rahul Dev, and sister-in-law Mughda Godse. In a statement, they announced, “Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully in New Delhi last night.” While the exact cause of his death has not yet been publicly disclosed, reports indicate that the actor had been battling an illness. He is survived by his daughter, Sia Dev.

Battled depression after mother’s passing
Mukul Dev’s co-star Vindu Dara Singh expressed deep grief over his friend’s demise, revealing that Mukul had reportedly slipped into depression following the death of his mother. “He was very close to his mother, and when she passed away, he became depressed. He didn’t have the same person to guide him after her passing,” Vindu told ANI. Vindu also mentioned the shock felt by the Son of Sardaar team, noting the unfortunate timing as their movie was set to release soon, and Mukul wouldn’t be there to witness its success despite his brilliant performance.

A versatile actor across multiple languages
Mukul Dev was a recognised figure in Indian cinema, known for his versatility. Throughout his career, he worked extensively across various film industries, including Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Bengali, and Malayalam films, leaving behind a diverse filmography.
