Saudi Arabian Grand Prix qualifying results: Max Verstappen once again secures pole in Jeddah, Lando Norris crashes out

The qualifying session for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah has concluded, with Max Verstappen once again dominating the Jeddah Corniche Circuit to clinch pole position. McLaren’s Lando Norris looked set to challenge for pole but crashed into the wall just minutes before the finish. He ultimately secured 10th place in the final qualifying standings. His teammate, Oscar Piastri, put in a stellar performance to qualify second, followed by Mercedes’ George Russell in third.

Will Max Verstappen win the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for the third time?Max Verstappen’s pole position puts him in a strong position, as the Red Bull driver has won the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix for the past two years. With this solid qualifying result, he is now poised to complete a hat-trick of wins in Jeddah. Coming off a fourth consecutive victory at the Japanese Grand Prix, Verstappen appears on track to make more history in Jeddah as well this weekend.

On number four is Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc followed by the other Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli in fifth position. Williams driver Carlos Sainz got sixth position which is his best Qualifying race so far this season. Lewis Hamilton, who races for Ferrari now, couldn’t do any better than the seventh position and was followed by the new Red Bull driver Yuki Tsunoda on number eight. Pierre Gasly managed position nine in his Alpine. Norris ended up in tenth position while Alex Albon was in position eleven. Liam Lawson, who is now with Racing Bulls, ended at twelfth position.

One of the standout moments from qualifying came when Max Verstappen, on a flying lap, expertly avoided a spinning Gabriel Bortoleto on the right side of the track during Q1. Meanwhile, Pierre Gasly had a narrow escape at the final corner but managed to keep his car out of the wall.

The final race of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix takes place on Sunday at 8 p.m. local time. Rain is not expected, but the sweltering heat could pose a challenge for the drivers. The race will span 50 laps of the 6.174-kilometre Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
