WWE President Nick Khan Speaks on Controversial Vince McMahon Docuseries

Send Push

WWE President Nick Khan has spoken about the behind-the-scenes reaction to the Mr. McMahon docuseries that premiered on Netflix in September 2024. The six-part series quickly grabbed the attention of wrestling fans, as it showed the rise of Vince McMahon in WWE and the controversies that later led to his downfall. Although WWE was not involved in making the show, it featured several top wrestling stars, and Vince himself gave interviews while he was still the company’s Chairman.

Khan , who now plays a key role in the future of WWE, explained what happened once the series aired and how the company handled the reactions behind the scenes.

Mixed feelings about the final episode of Mr. McMahon docuseries
During his appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Nick Khan spoke honestly about how people within WWE felt after watching the series. He said the company was okay with most of the series, but the sixth episode, which talked about McMahon’s recent scandals, was seen in a different way.

“Episodes one through five, it was all fine. Episode six obviously had a lot of tawdry allegations in there. The most important thing in the company was, ‘Hey, this is not for us to spike it.’ That’s not what the deal was and the deal that was struck with Netflix was prior to me joining WWE on a full-time basis. So it was sort of trying to help everyone who was watching it stay calm, and ‘we’ll get through this thing and get to the other side of it,’ which hopefully we are now,” Khan explained.

He added that reactions varied widely within the company once the last episode dropped.

“It went everywhere from ‘Hey, it was phenomenally done’ to ‘Oh my God, this thing is not true, it’s not factual.’ There were people who loved it as an objectively told profile of a person, and people who were close to the subject who didn’t like it, which I would understand, and I think you understand.”

Despite the strong reactions, Nick Khan made it clear that WWE was committed to honoring the original agreement with Netflix and letting the series play out without interference.

The Future of WWE and its competition with AEW
Since McMahon’s exit, Triple H has taken over creative control, and the locker room environment has reportedly improved. Many wrestlers are happy with how the company is being run, and fans are seeing fresh ideas on TV.

Nick Khan also mentioned AEW, calling it a strong competition with a talented roster. He said WWE respects the work of AEW and would not be surprised if some AEW stars joined WWE in the future, once they are free to talk.

With WWE turning a new page and aiming for a brighter future, the Mr. McMahon series serves as both a history lesson and a reminder of how much the company has changed.
