Daksh Gupta , co-founder and CEO of AI startup – Greptile recently shared a post on X where he revealed that he has begun informing candidates about his firm’s no-work life balance. In the post he said “recently I started telling candidates right in the first interview that greptile offers no work-life-balance, typical workdays start at 9am and end at 11pm, often later, and we work saturdays, sometimes also Sundays.”
However, the post did not go well with internet users who slammed the CEO for promoting toxic work culture . Some even suggested that Gupta's Indian heritage is the reason behind his approach to work-life balance .
Greptile CEO defends
The CEO has now responded to his post, defending 14-hour workdays . He writes “this way of working isn’t supposed to be forever because it isn’t sustainable. it’s the first year or two of a startup which is like reaching escape velocity. like people said in the comments, as we mature we’ll hire older, more experienced people who have families and can’t work 100 hours a week, and naturally we would adapt like any good organization.”
He further clarified “that i am like this not because im indian but because im san franciscan”. He further added that ‘while a minority’, there still exists people who are willing to work this hard. “..the transparency exists to identify them,” he said
