BHOPAL: A 26-year-old man was shot dead and two persons hurt in a clash between two communities over playing loud music in an Ambedkar Jayanti rally in MP's Morena late Monday.
Tension continues to simmer in Hingona Khurd village, around 50km from Gwalior, close to the Rajasthan border. Additional forces have been deployed, and officers are keeping a watch on the area to prevent any escalation. According to police, members of the Jatav community were returning from the Ambedkar rally, with loud music playing on a DJ system. Some members from Gurjar community objected to the noise, as a birthday celebration was on in one of their homes.
The argument turned violent. Around 10pm, amid a heated exchange, gunfire broke out. Sanjay Pippal, a member of Jatav community, received a bullet in the chest and died on spot. Another youth, Ranu Dauneria, was shot in the right hand and is undergoing treatment in Gwalior. A third person was also injured in the firing.
