NEW DELHI: Amid fears of an attack by Khalistan supporters, Brampton Triveni Mandir and Community Centre has cancelled a consular camp that was to be organised in collaboration with Indian High Commission to assist retired Indian civil servants who have migrated in continuing to receive pension benefits.
The camp was scheduled to take place on Nov 17, where Indian-origin Hindus and Sikhs could renew life certificates or provide proof of life, ensuring their pension entitlements would continue.
On Monday, pro-Khalistan terrorist and SFJ chief, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun , issued a statement that Indian diplomats will be targeted at Hindu temples on Nov 16 and 17. He also issued a veiled threat to attack Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. SFJ said it planned to counter Indian diplomats organising life certificate camps in Canada, with specific challenges planned for Kalibari Mandir in Mississauga on Nov 16 and Triveni Mandir in Brampton on Nov 17.
“...saddened that Canadians now feel unsafe coming to Hindu temples here. We call on Peel police to address the threats being circulated against Brampton Triveni Mandir and provide security to Canadian Hindu community and general public,” a statement from the temple said.
