In response to the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali national, India launched Operation Sindoor—a series of precise and focused strikes on terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). According to a statement released by the Ministry of Defence, “India has launched Operation Sindoor, a precise and restrained response to the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali citizen. Focused strikes were carried out on nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, targeting the roots of cross-border terror planning.”
The Defence Ministry clarified that India’s actions were "focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature." Importantly, the statement emphasized that no Pakistani military facilities were targeted, and that the mission was designed to hold only the terror elements accountable.
“These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack... We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” the ministry added.
The operation has drawn widespread support from citizens and celebrities alike, as the nation collectively mourns the loss of innocent lives while applauding the swift and strategic response.
