BELAGAVI: Karnataka BJP will send a recent "ground report" from Vijayapura to a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) looking into the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024, signalling its intent to milk the issue despite chief minister Siddaramaiah's directive to cancel waqf entries in land records of farmers. The JPC is headed by BJP's Jagadambika Pal .
A BJP delegation led by MP Govind Karjol and others recently completed a "survey" in Vijayapura on the waqf notices to farmers and mutations in property records. "BY Vijayendra, BJP state president, commissioned the survey in 10 villages," said MB Zirali, a member of the delegation as well as a BJP spokesperson and advocate.
Zirali alleged that in one instance, waqf's name was added to the property records of the 500-year-old Sindagi Virakta Mutt's without the local seer's awareness.
