JAMMU: A 26-year-old BSF jawan allegedly died by suicide while on sentry duty at a forward post in J&K’s Samba district on Monday.
Around 3am, the jawan — Constable (General Duty) Mridul Kumar Das from West Bengal, posted with BSF’s 13Bn — allegedly shot himself dead using his service rifle at the Mallu Chak border outpost under Ramgarh PS area, official sources said.
Police sent the body to Ramgarh community health centre for autopsy and launched inquest proceedings.
