NEW DELHI: The Election Commission on Tuesday issued a notice to Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor after discovering that he is enrolled as a voter in two different states -- Bihar and West Bengal. The poll body has sought a clarification from the poll strategist-turned-politician within three days.
According to official documents cited by PTI news agency, Kishor is listed as a voter at 121 Kalighat Road in Kolkata, the address of the Trinamool Congress headquarters in the Bhabanipur constituency -- the seat represented by West Bengal chief minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee .
His designated polling booth there is St Helen School on B Ranishankari Lane, officials said.
In Bihar, however, Kishor is registered as a voter in the Kargahar assembly segment under the Sasaram parliamentary constituency in Rohtas district, with Madhya Vidyalaya, Konar listed as his polling station.
Kishor had previously served as a key political consultant for the TMC during the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections, before turning his focus to his own political movement on ground turf, Jan Suraaj, in Bihar.
