Haryana elections result: Arvind Kejriwal's AAP fails to make any impact

Send Push
NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal 's Aam Aadmi Party has failed to make any inroads in Haryana. AAP, which contested the Haryana assembly elections alone after it could not stich an alliance with the Congress, could not manage to win any seat in the state assembly. The only small consolation for AAP is the fact that the party's voteshare has increased from 0.48% in 2019 assembly elections to around 1.59% in these elections.

The AAP and the Congress had contested the Lok Sabha elections under INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) banner. However, they could not agree to a seat-sharing deal for the assembly elections and contested the state polls as rivals.

The AAP campaign in Haryana had got a big boost after former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal got bail and was released from jail in the Delhi liquor policy case. He led the party's campaign and had claimed in his speeches that the next government in Haryana will not be formed without the party's support. However, the results show that AAP failed to make a mark and could not open its account in the state.
