JAMMU: Pakistani troops continued to violate ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) for the tenth consecutive day and resorted to unprovoked small arms firing at forward Indian posts in eight sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
An army spokesperson said on the night of 3-4 May, Pakistan Army fired across the LoC in areas opposite Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, Akhnoor (in Jammu division) and Kupwara and Baramulla (in Kashmir division). “Our own troops responded promptly and proportionately,” he said.
Pakistan has been violating the ceasefire despite a warning from India at a hotline conversation between the directors general of military operations of both the countries on April 29.
Ceasefire violations along the LoC and International Border were rare since India and Pakistan renewed the agreement on Feb 25, 2021. However, Pakistan has been firing unprovoked in the aftermath of diplomatic actions taken by India in the wake of Pahalgam terror attack.
