UP CM Yogi Adityanath felicitates Paris Olympians and Paralympians

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday felicitated the medalists, participants, and coaches from Uttar Pradesh who represented the country at the Paris Olympics and Paralympics 2024. The ceremony, titled "Jinhone Badhaya Desh Ka Maan, Aisi Pratibhaon Ko Samman," took place at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.

During his address, Adityanath shared his success mantra with the youth and athletes, emphasizing the detrimental effects of drug use and the challenges posed by excessive smartphone usage. He stated, "Drugs lead to destruction. Those who turn to drugs will not achieve anything significant in life."

The chief minister presented a total of Rs Rs 22.70 crore to 14 Olympians and Para Olympians for their remarkable achievements.



Uttar Pradesh's athletes delivered outstanding performances at the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, securing six medals, including one gold. Praveen Kumar, Lalit Upadhyay, Rajkumar Pal, Suhas LY, Ajit Singh, Preeti Pal, and Simran were among the medalists who received cash prizes ranging from Rs 1 crore to Rs 6 crore for their achievements.

Praveen Kumar, the gold medalist in the T64 event at the Paris Paralympic Games , received a substantial prize money of 6 crore rupees. Suhas LY and Ajit Singh who won silver medals in the Paralympic Games were given 4 crore rupees each, Priti Pal got 4 crore rupees for winning 2 bronze medals and Simran who won the bronze medal got 1 crore rupees.

The members of the hockey team, Lalit Upadhyay and Rajkumar Pal, who secured the bronze medal, were each honored with 1 crore rupees. Additionally, Priyanka, Annu Rani, Parul Chaudhary, and Sakshi were each recognized with a prize money of 10 lakh rupees for their commendable performances.
