Elon Musk 's mother Maye is facing severe backlash after she suggested that people cast their vote with fake names in the US elections. Her remarks prompted some of the people to alert the FBI and the federal authorities for encouraging " voter fraud ".

In a post on social media platform X, the mother of the world's richest man said, "The Democrats have given us another option. You don’t have to register to vote. On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. That’s 100 votes, and it’s not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too."

The post which had over 2.5 million views was heavily criticised with many pointing out this being illegal. Tagging the FBI offices, one user replied to Maye Musk 's post and said, "This person seems to be advocating for people to commit voter fraud on a large scale. They are also misinforming by claiming it is legal to do so. Please note for post election follow up." Similarly, many users called upon the authorities to take note with one tagging the Federal Election Commission and said, "This woman is inciting people to break election laws. DO SOMETHING."

Later, the post also received a community note, a feature introduced on the social media site after Musk became the owner, pointing out that what was being suggested in the post is illegal with a link to the US elections code of conduct.

Soon after, Maye seemed to take back her remarks. "In Butler, Pennsylvania, we just heard that the Republicans will make sure no illegals vote. Ignore my previous post," she said while referring to Trump's rally in Butler which also saw Elon Musk joining the former president on stage.

The Tesla owner Musk joined Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump at at election rally in Butler Pennsylvania, marking a public alliance with the former president as the 2024 election approaches. Addressing the crowd with energy, Musk donned a black "Make America Great Again" cap and an "Occupy Mars" shirt, declaring himself "Dark MAGA.""As you can see, I'm not just MAGA, I'm dark MAGA," Musk said to roaring applause, showing his support for Trump’s re-election bid.

Musk, also changed his profile picture on X in support of Donald Trump. This rally was held at the same venue where Trump survived an assassination attempt in July. Musk, known for his usual subdued public speaking style, raised his energy levels as he urged the crowd to "Fight! Fight! Fight!" echoing Trump's calls to action.
