From MJ Market to Nampally: Photowalk captures city's everyday life

On Sunday morning, around 54 photography enthusiasts gathered at Mozzam Jahi Market for a photowalk organised by Hyderabad Times in collaboration with Photowalks Hyderabad and Photowalks Mumbai. Part of the My City, My Click contest by The Times of India Metro Supplements, the walk took participants through the bustling lanes of MJ Market and Bamboo Handicraft Street, where they captured the city’s street life and architecture using both cameras and smartphones.



Photowalks are about observing and connecting with the city through candid moments. At MJ Market, I captured children playing together on a Sunday morning. It instantly reminded me of my own childhood. In today’s gadget-driven world, such scenes are rare, and sharing that experience with fellow enthusiasts made the walk even more memorable

This was my first photowalk, and I attended it with my mom. Observing how experienced photographers approached their subjects gave me valuable new perspectives. What I appreciated most was seeing people dedicate time to a passion —capturing moments for the joy it brings, not for money. It was truly inspiring – Lakshmi Ananya, Class 9 student



Along the route, traders preparing their stalls, bamboo artisans at work, and street vendors selling T-shirts and other items became subjects of candid frames.
